Projet de loi pour interdire l'expérimentation animale à Rio

Bonsoir,

Claudio Cavalcanti, conseiller municipal de Rio de Janeiro, a déposé
un projet loi pour l'interdiction de l'expérimentation animale, à
Rio.

Le projet avait d'abord été approuvé par le conseil, et finalement
le maire y a mis son véto.

Mardi 20 juin, le projet de loi sera à nouveau débattu.

Les activistes brésiliens espèreraient bien sûr avoir le soutien des
militants et associations pour les droits des animaux de partout.

Voici une petite lettre-type à envoyer aux membres du conseil
munipal pour dire votre soutien au projet :

I fully support and am in favor of the law which prohibits
vivisection and scientific experiments on animals in the city of Rio
de Janeiro. If this law passes, you will be setting a fine and

To all anti-vivisection and animal rights activists in Brazil and
the world:

I hereby, make an appeal to all animal rights and anti-vivisection
activists from Brazil and worldwide to please express their support
in favor of the law to which I am the author, which prohibits
vivisection and scientific experiments on animals in the city of Rio
de Janeiro.

This law was approved by the City Council in March of this year, but
was vetoed by the Mayor. It will return to the City Council of Rio
de Janeiro, following official procedures, when the Mayor's veto
will be evaluated and either endorsed or rejected by the majority
voting. We will need 26 votes to overturn the Mayor's veto.

In case the Mayor's veto is overturned, this law will represent the
liberation of animals from laboratories in the city of Rio de
Janeiro, and this will set a national and international precedent to
end the systematic and continuous torture of millions of animals
worldwide.

This is urgent. The voting is scheduled for June 20.
