Objet: Covance and Chandler
Dear sir/madam,
I am writing to express my concern about Covance’s large animal
experimentation laboratory planned for Chandler.
I am deeply troubled by Covance workers having been cruel to animals in
other experimentation facilities and about the potential health risk to the
community.
Please say no to this grotesque experimentation facility and its history of
animal cruelty and deadly toxic exposures. Thank you.
Sincerely,

"Some will take refuge in the old cliché that humans are different from
other animals. But when did a difference justify a moral prejudice? When did
those with black hair have a right to mistreat those with red hair...or even
those with blue or purple hair...Surely the crucial similarity that men
share with other animals is the capacity to suffer? Regardless of the number
of legs or the woolliness of our fur, we can all suffer..." --Richard Ryder

Objet: Live-export trade of animals

Email: Peter.McGauran. MP@aph.gov.au
Dear Honourable Mc Gauran,
PETA US and Animals Australia recently released the results of a jointly
funded undercover investigation, which aired on Australia’s 60 Minutes and
exposed horrific cruelty in the live-export trade.
Video footage from the investigation graphically confirms what PETA has said
all along:
The Australian government and live-export industry are lying through their
teeth when they say that animals are treated humanely at their destinations.
What befalls sheep and cattle when they arrive at Lybian docks and
slaughterhouses is illegal in Australia, the United States and Europe.
Every year, millions of terrified sheep and cattle are hauled to Australian
docks.
They are so frightened and confused that they jump high into the air and
come crashing to the ground, collapsing in the frenzy of being herded onto
ships, where they are crowded together like inanimate objects and sent to
the Middle East. For those who survive the gruelling trip, the nightmare has
just begun.
Therefore I urge you to permanently ban all live-animal exports now.
I demand that any slaughter of Australian animals take place in Australia,
where the animals are under the protection of Australian laws.
Thank you,
Sincerely,

Supplying animals to countries where no animal welfare legislation exists to
protect them from acts of cruelty cannot be justified under any
circumstances. It is an abdication of your legal and ethical
responsibilities to Australian animals and makes Australia equally culpable
for the suffering they endure.
Your participation in this trade is also providing the shameful message to
the Middle East that Australians believe it
acceptable to abandon established principals of caring for animals on the
basis of profit. Not only is this completely untrue but such a position
undermines attempts to progress animal welfare as an issue of significance
in importing countries.
I urge the Federal government to ban live animal export to the Middle East
and restore Australia's reputation as a fair and compassionate nation
Thank you,
Sincerely,
