Dear Sirs,
Each year, an estimated two million parrots are born into breeding operations across the country, many in poor conditions. Scudder’s Parrot Depot, a
Pierce County parrot breeding facility and the largest in Washington state, houses hundreds of parrots, including some endangered species, in reportedly
cold, damp and filthy conditions which are extremely detrimental for tropical birds.
Run by Martha Scudder and Bob Vincent, the Depot’s 25-year-history is marked by numerous complaints as well as deposed testimony and dozens of
post-mortem reports.
Hundreds, if not thousands of birds may have been seriously neglected over the years; a veterinarian once called the facility a
"concentration camp" for the birds.
Yet according to news reports, Scudder’s has never been fined or had any animals removed.
Although Animal Control warned the facility that it appeared to be in violation of state law, no further action was taken.
Therefore I urge you law enforcement to address this important matter that involves the health and lives of possibly hundreds of defenseless birds.
I hope you will take my urge into consideration,
Thank you for your time and attention,
Sincerely Yours,
